Services for Marshall Thurman “Buddy” Douglas Sr. of Sontag are10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Douglas, 83, died Nov. 17, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Lawrence County on Sept. 10, 1919, to Luther A. and BrittieJackson Douglas.
He was a retired EMT-ambulance attendant with Lawrence CountyHospital. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he wasrecognized this year for serving as a deacon for 50 years. He was afarrier and blacksmith. He was a member of the board of trusteesduring the planning and construction of Lawrence CountyHospital.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, MarshallThurman Douglas Jr.; his brothers, Marvin, Martin, Troy and SidneyDouglas; and his sisters, Alice Smith and Grace Case.
Survivors are his wife, Margie Bird Douglas of Sontag; his son,Luther Ian Douglas of Sontag; his brothers, Thomas J. Douglas andOscar Douglas, both of Sontag; his sisters, Lillian Bardwell andAnna Crane, both of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, KristopherDouglas of Alexandria, La., and Troy and Andi Douglas ofBrookhaven; his great-granddaughter, Layla Marie Douglas ofAlexandria; and two step-grandchildren and a host of nieces andnephews.
