The Enterprise Yellow Jackets are riding a 3-game winning streakand are in the race for the Region 4-1A title, thanks to consistentplay from players like cornerback Chris Moak.

In last Friday’s 48-27 win over Natchez Cathedral, Moak led theEnterprise defense with 12 tackles and intercepted two passes.

For his accomplishments, Moak has been named The DAILY LEADERDefensive Player of the Week.

Moak and the Jackets moved up to No. 3 in the division with a4-1 record. They are 4-2 on the season. Mercy Cross dropped to 3-1in division play after losing to division leader St. John (5-0)14-13 last Friday. Mt. Olive remains No. 2 in division play with a4-0 worksheet.

“It feels good,” said Moak about being named Defensive Player ofthe Week. “I feel like I have really done something.” Moak had beenplaying linebacker before the switch to cornerback last Fridaynight.

On the season, Moak (5-9, 150) has recorded 42 total tackles.intercepted 3 passes and made 2 quarterback sacks.

“We decided to try Chris Moak at cornerback,” said Enterprisehead coach Roe Burns. “He got two interceptions.”

In the weight room, Moak bench presses 250 pounds and squats 380pounds. He runs 40-yard dash in 4.7 time.

“Pound for pound, he’s one of the strongest kids we’ve got,”continued Burns. “He has good speed.”

Last Friday against Cathedral, Moak also rushed for a 62-yardtouchdown.

“It was 24 Lead,” said Moak of the play called on his touchdownrun. “I went through the hole and Ky Mathis blocks for me.”

Moak was pleased to make the two pass interceptions againstCathedral.

“I stepped in front of the receiver both times,” explained Moakof his two thefts.

Moak said he enjoys the switch from linebacker to cornerback.”it was pretty good. I liked it. I still cover the passes.”

Moak said beating Cathedral last Friday was what the Jacketsneeded to do in their quest for the region title. “We needed to doit. It felt pretty good.”

Working on the defensive line for the Jackets are Vincent Smithat nose guard, Colby Sullivan and Trey Boyd at tackle and Mathis atguard and Brandon Smith at end.

“His goal in life is to play college football,” addedBurns.”He’s a good kid. He’s at practice everyday.

“They gave a great effort Friday night,” said burns. “We’ve gotsome kids banged up.”

Moak is following in the foot steps of his cousins who alsoplayed football at Enterprise. His cousins included Drew Waldrop,Wayne Nations and Jeremy Malone. Moak’s older brother, Zach, is asenior and also plays for the Jackets.

Outside of Enterprise, Moak said he likes to hunt but hasn’tkilled much this year.

Moak said he would like to thank the coaching staff (Burns andSeth Lofton) for their help, especially with the weight roomprogram.

“The weight room has helped us out,” added Moak. “You can tellthe difference on the field.”
