Lyda Pennington Allen

Graveside services for Lyda Pennington Allen of Biloxi were 1p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery.Harrigill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen, 71, died Sept. 27, 2005, at Ocean Springs Hospital.She was born on June 12, 1934, to the late Walter Pennington andEffie Lambert Pennington.

She was a concession stand owner and worked for the Enterprisesof the Blind. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was pastpresident of the Mississippi Council of the Blind and was active inhelping people with visual difficulties.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, William J.Allen.

Survivors are her sons, Russell Caminiti of Mansfield, Mass.,Clyde Jones, a maritime seaman, and Anthony Allen of Biloxi; herdaughters, Melba Armstrong of Gulfport, Paula Caminiti of Lowell,Mass., and Patricia Caminiti of Philadelphia, Miss.; and hersisters, Bet Johnson of Brookhaven and Martha Rushing of Magee.

Elsie Newton Bowman

Services for Elsie Newton Bowman of Brookhaven were 11 a.m.Thursday at Community Funeral Services with burial in Mt. MoriahBaptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Bowman, 85, died Oct. 3, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Brookhaven on July 8, 1920, to the lateElias Newton and Roby Algood Newton.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HermanBowman; two sons, three brothers and a grandchild.

Survivors are her sons, Kenneth E. Bowman of Brookhaven andRichard I. Bowman of Zachary, La.; her daughter, Katrina Jackson ofBrookhaven; her brothers, Sherman Newton and Roscoe Newton, both ofBrookhaven; her sisters, Nora Bell West, Ella Sandidge and KathleenDriskil, all of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren; 13great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Timothy Demond Burkes

Services for Timothy Demond Burkes of Houston, Texas, are noonSaturday at New Fork United Methodist Church in Meadville withburial in Meadville Cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at thechurch.

Mr. Burkes, 32, died Oct. 3, 2005, at Twelve Oaks Hospital inHouston. He was born in Franklin County on Jan. 27, 1973, to BettyBurkes O’Neal of Houston.

Preceding him in death were his stepfather, the Rev. LonnieO’Neal; grandmother, Margaret Burkes; and an uncle, CharlesBurkes.

Survivors are his loving, devoted mother; a stepbrother, LarryO’Neal; grandfather, Albert Burkes, both of Houston; his aunts,Brenda Cager and her husband Chris of Brookhaven, Patricia Burkesof Houston and Louise Williams and her husband Harvey of Brenham,Texas; his uncles, Jerry Burkes and wife Sylvia of Akron, Ohio, andAnthony Burkes and his wife Montie of Meadville; his great-aunts,Earnestine Anderson and husband Alvin of Laurel; Carolee Rodgersand husband Cal of Akron, Ohio, and Annie Mae Jones of Meadville; agod-mother, Maxine Hockett and husband Jim of Roxie; hisgod-sisters, Adrienne Hockett of Dallas, Melissa Hockett of Jacksonand Melanie Thomas of Houston; and a host of cousins, otherrelatives and friends.

Services for Clessia Johnson of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. Sunday atSt. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Caseyville with burial in thechurch cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. with a family hourfrom 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson, 88, died Oct. 2, 2005, at Haven Hall NursingCenter. She was born on Oct. 19, 1916, to the late David Wilson andCora Brown Herring.

She was retired. She was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church, whereshe served as church secretary for more than 40 years, as a memberof the motherboard and as a missionary.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, M.B. Johnson;a son, J.W. Johnson; her daughters, Clementine Thompson and MarzellRatcliff; her brothers, Jessie Wilson, Frank Wilson, R.J. Wilsonand Walter Lee Wilson; her sisters, Marlee Johnson and RuthieDixon; and a grandson, Charlie Lee Freeman.

Survivors are her daughter, Nora Lee Freeman and husband R.T.; ason-in-law, Arthur Ratcliff; her brothers, John Henry Dixon andwife Gertha, Fred Wilson and wife Shirley, Prentis Wilson and wifeBeulah, Lonnie B. Dixon and wife Oteal, all of Brookhaven, MelvinDixon, Luther Wilson, Lonnie Wilson and wife Katherine and R.C.Dixon, all of California; her sisters, Geneva Byrd and Almeta Levi,both of Chicago, Lucretia Newton and Edith Dixon, both ofBrookhaven, and Katie Bell Gale and Cora Renna Martin, both ofCalifornia; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and manynieces nephews and other relatives.

Michael Brandon Jones

Services for Michael Brandon Jones of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.today at Macedonia Baptist Church. Community Funeral Services is incharge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones, 18, died Oct. 5, 2005, at his residence. He was bornon Nov. 10, 1986.

He was a high school graduate.

Survivors are his parents, David and Wendy Anding Craven; hisbrothers, Timothy Caldwell and David Craven III, all of Brookhaven;his sisters, Chelsea Craven of Brookhaven and Jonna Bradshaw ofLouisiana; his grandparents, Steven and Jeanette Greene ofBrookhaven and David and Otis Caldwell of Pascagoula; and his birthmother, Lejean of Pascagoula.
