McClendon’s grand slam powers Bobcats

BOGUE CHITTO – Colton McClendon smashed a grand slam home runand a double Thursday night to power the Bogue Chitto Bobcats to a19-9 Division 8-1A win over the Dexter Bulldogs in varsity baseballaction. McClendon’s GSHR came in the third inning, capping a 9 runscoring run.
Bogue Chitto (5-5, 4-0) entertains Cathedral Tuesday.
Seth Avants was the winning pitcher with 4 strikeouts and nowalks. Cole Laird came in relief and struck out 3 and walked 5.
“We hit the ball good,” said Bogue Chitto coach Adam Moak. “Weplayed good defense. Seth (Avants) pitched a good game not allowingany walks.”
Bogue Chitto led 3-0 in the first inning, 9-0 in the secondinning before pushing its lead to 18-0 in the third. Dexter cameback with 2 runs in the top of the fourth and seven in the fifth.The hosts added 1 more run in the fifth to end the game under the10-run rule.
Adding support at the plate for the Bobcats was Avants with a adouble and a pair of singles was Scotty Brown. Avants singledtwice. Michael Martin. James Anderson and Robert Andersonsingled.
Joseph Lasseigne singled twice for the Bulldogs. Devin Allen andKevin Herring hit safely.
