AmSouth held up by masked men

NEW HEBRON — Two masked men displaying pistols robbed theAmSouth Bank of an undisclosed amount of cash Friday, saidauthorities.
The bank was held up at approximately 12:20 p.m. Friday, and noinjuries were reported in the armed robbery, according to a pressrelease from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are asking forassistance from the community.
“We have some strong leads in this case,” said Sheriff JoelThames.
Thames’ department will work in conjunction with the FederalBureau of Investigation (FBI).
The FBI has already started looking for clues on a van believedto be used in the robbery, said Thames.
“We’ve kept the van in custody, and the FBI is doing aninvestigation with the van,” he said. “They are dusting the printsand looking for DNA.”
The Dodge Caravan was stolen from a Jefferson Davis Countyresidence last week. It was recovered shortly after the robbery, atthe edge of the Jefferson Davis County line on Jones-Ford Road,stated a press release.
Thames has asked that residents be on the lookout for a latemodel blue Toyota 4Runner, which is believed to be the vehicle usedafter the van was dumped.
The suspects are described as two black males, both wearing darkstockings over their faces and hoods over their heads.
