Services for Mildred Allen Campbell, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 16, at Della Green M.B. Church in Brookhaven withburial in Carver Heights Cemetery in Brookhaven.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. with family presentfrom 6 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven.
Mrs. Campbell, 87, died Jan. 11, 2010, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center in Brookhaven. She was born in Summit on May 20,1922, to Wallace Allen II and Ada Hughes Allen.
She graduated from Pike County Agricultural School. She attendedJackson State College where she enrolled in a teacher-trainingprogram. She also attended Tougaloo College. Mrs. Campbell hadworked for a number of years at the Lindsey Headstart Center inBrookhaven. She was a member of Della Green M.B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Richard”R.C.” Campbell; a son, Richard Campbell; a sister, Mary McMultry;her brothers, Wallace Allen III, Rowan Allen and Theodore “Teddy”Allen; and a granddaughter, Donna Ballentine.
Survivors are her daughters, Annie P. Ashford and husband,Hayward, of Chicago, Ill., Geraldine Bennett, of Inglewood, Calif.,and Connie Davis and husband, Lamar, of Sontag; her sons, JackieCampbell, Donald Campbell and wife, Merlee, and Jimmie Campbell,all of Brookhaven; her sisters, Grace Rhodes, of Chicago, PreciousSteptoe and husband, Lavett, of Summit; a brother, John Paul Allenand wife, Ann, of Apple Valley, Calif.; her 13 grandchildren; her12 great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; hersisters-in-law, Alice Allen, of McComb, Stella Campbell, ofChicago, and Mydere Campbell, of Brookhaven; and her numerousnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
