Durant too much for BC

DURANT — The Bogue Chitto Bobcats had the Durant Tigers on theropes for the first half with a 12-7 lead. In the second half, theTigers woke up and went on a 42-8 run to beat the Bobcats 49-20 inthe first round of the Class 1A South State football playoffsFriday night.
Durant improves to 11-1 on the season. Bogue Chitto, under CoachGareth Sartin, finishes the season 8-3.
Bogue Chitto went up 6-0 in the first quarter on a 6-yard run byDonyea Dillion. The 2-point conversion run failed and the visitorsled 6-0.
Durant got on the scoreboard in the second quarter on a 5-yardpass-play from quarterback Keri Patterson to Sergio Brown. JeremyHuntley kicked first of 4 extra points to give the hosts a brief7-6 lead.
Bobcat quarterback Seth Avants scored the second TD on a 5-yardburst. The PAT kick failed but Bogue Chitto took a 12-7 lead athalftime.
Durant scored its first of 3 third-quarter TDs on a 45-yardburst by Brown to take a 14-12 lead over Bogue Chitto.
The Bobcats answered back and punched in their second touchdownof the game on a 12-yard run by Cole Laird. Avants ran the 2-pointconversion and Bogue Chitto went up 20-14 over the Tigers.
Before the end of the third quarter, the Tigers tacked on 2 moreTDs. The first on a 70-yard kickoff return by Donald Boyd and an18-yard touchdown pass from Willie Davis to Robert Thomas to extendits lead to 27-20.
In the fourth quarter, Durant put the game away with three moretouchdowns for the 49-20 win. Davis scored the first on a 2-yardplunge, Cortez Frizell scampered for a 20-yard run and JeremyHuntley 35 interception return. On a 2-point conversion play, Davisconnected with Robert Thomas.
