Lester Lee Bourne

Services for Lester Lee Bourne of Crystal Springs are 2 p.m.,Monday, July 28, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 4-7 p.m., and Monday from 8 a.m. – 2p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Bourne, 60, died July 24, 2003, at his residence. He wasborn in Jackson on July 15, 1943, to Fred Bourne and Zelda BrownBourne.

He was a sales representative for Bancroft Paper and Chemicalsin Jackson, where he worked for 25 years. He was a former personneldirector for the State Parks Commission, and was a member of FirstBaptist Church in Crystal Springs. He was a graduate of ProvineHigh School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University ofSouthern Mississippi, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Alpafraternity and honorary organizations. He served on many boards andwas a director and a past president of the board of directors forthe Jackson Metropolitan Boys and Girls Club. He was an avidoutdoorsman.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Janet Owens Bourne ofCrystal Springs; his sons, Bradford Riley Bourne of Tampa, Fla.,and Bryce Bailey Bourne of Jackson; his brothers, Eldred Bourne ofHuntsville, Ala., Darden Bourne of Gadsden, Ala., Ralph Bourne ofNew Hope, Ala., and Dale Bourne of Grass Valley, Calif.; and hisgrandson, Joshua Lee Bourne of Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Pat Moore, Herman Morris, Bob Bailey, DonRenegar, James Watts, Ronnie Hughes, Jerry Black and Davey Tucker.Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Loper, Vanis Ely, BurnisGardner, Jerry Segal and Jon David Smith.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, HospiceMinistries or Jackson Metropolitan Boys and Girls Club.

Milton Bryant Jr.

Services for Milton Bryant Jr. of McLean, Va., were 11 a.m.,June 21, at McLean Bible Church with burial in Jefferson MemorialPark in Pittsburgh, Pa. Collins Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Bryant, 69, died June 18, 2003, at his residence after aseven-month battle with cancer.

He was a special assistant to the chief executive of IntegicCorp., a Chantilly-based software applications company that handlesgovernment contracts. Beginning in the mid 1950s, he served forapproximately a decade in the Navy in intelligence work as acryptologist, retiring as a chief petty officer. He then settled inthe Washington, D.C., area and become president of DaviesAssociates, an executive recruiting business. In the mid 1970s, hefounded Alexander and Holt, Inc., an executive recruiting business.He helped found Integic in 1990. He was a native of Blue Mountain,and attended Mississippi State University and Union University inJackson, Tenn. He was a member of McLean Bible Church, CapitalYacht Club and U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association, and wasa board member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes inMaryland.

Preceding him in death was his father, the Rev. MiltonBryant.

Survivors are his wife of 23 years, Darlene Bryant; his mother,Lona Bryant of Clinton, formerly of Brookhaven; his sister, FaithBryant Ferguson of Tulsa, Okla.; his brother, Joe Bryant ofMandeville, La.; four nieces; and four nephews.

Joseph Ray Emfinger

Services for Joseph Ray Emfinger of Meadville are 11 a.m.,Monday, July 28, at Serepta Baptist Church in Franklin County withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-9 p.m., at Franklin FuneralHome.

Mr. Emfinger, 85, died July 25, 2003, at his residence. He wasborn on Aug. 4, 1917, to Albert Emfinger and Rosie Ezell.

He was a farmer, and a member of Serepta Baptist Church. Heserved in the Army, and completed high school and two years ofcollege.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and twosisters.

Survivors are his wife, Lottie Bell Emfinger; his daughters,Linda Osborne and Patsy Buckles, both of Meadville; his son, Ray”Butch” Emfinger of Meadville; seven grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.

Sudia “Sue” Stevens Smith

Services for Sudia “Sue” Stevens Smith of Wesson are 4 p.m.,Monday, July 28, at Harrigill Funeral Home with burial inHazlehurst City Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-9 p.m., and Monday from 8 a.m. – 4p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 77, died July 26, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Copiah County on Feb. 3, 1926, to VirgilLee Stevens and Mollie Jane Bayes Smith.

She was retired as a receptionist at Hazlehurst Clinic. She wasa member of the Methodist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Harold F. Smith Sr. of Wesson; herson and daughter-in-law, Harold F. Smith II, and wife, Joy, ofWesson; his sisters, Sybil Smith of Farmersville, Texas, and PatMaraman of Montgomery, Ala.; her grandchildren, Chris F. Smith, andJason R. Smith, and wife, Lacie, all of Wesson; and hergreat-grandchildren, Karley Smith and Dawson Ryan Smith.
