Services for John Alton King, of Monticello, were at 11 a.m.Friday, July 6, at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello withburial at the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. King, 85, died July 4, 2007, at Lawrence County NursingHome. He was born on March 13, 1922, to W. Jesse King and Mary CoxKing.

He was a retired justice city court judge. He was a member ofNew Hope Baptist Church were he served as a deacon for 60years.

Preceding him in death were his wife; Lucille Hedgepeth King;his daughter, Billie Faye Hall and her husband, Joe Hall; and twosisters.

Survivors are his sons, Jerry King and his wife, Betty, ofMonticello, and Jimmy King and his wife, Donna, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Sandra Sarich and her husband, Ron, of Monticello, andBeth Young and her husband, Eli, of Beaufort, S.C.; his brother,James Ray King, of Jayess; his sister, Mary Jane Turner, ofMonticello; his grandchildren, Patricia Faye Johnson, Rebecca JoDelaughter, Sherri Lynn Everett, Vicky Denine Campbell, BelindaEilen Brister, Jerry Darrel King, Tabitha Dozier, John King,Savannah King, Stephanie Neal, Shane Smith, Stacie Bryant, ClintRogillo, Meagan Rogillo, Heidi Elizabeth Johnson and Brianna Terry;and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
