Brook girls clip South Jones

The host Brookhaven High Lady Panthers beat the South Jones LadyBrave 3-2 in Division 6-4A fastpitch softball play Thursday nightat the Hansel King Sportsplex.
Brookhaven (9-4, 4-2) scored its three runs in the second inningfor a 3-0 lead. South Jones scored one run in the third and one inthe sixth to cut the deficit to one run.
“it was a great game,” said Brookhaven head softball coach LisaCovington. “It was a great team effort. It was a big win forus.”
Ashley Sykes was the winning pitcher with two strikeouts andfive walks.
Casi Langston tripled for 2RBI for the Lady Panthers. AllysonWallace and Terri Hodges collected two singles apiece. Sykes andKelly Vinson singled.
Junior Varsity
South Jones clipped Brookhaven 5-1. Hodges was the losing hurlerwith five walks. Sabrina Delaughter singled for the LadyPanthers.
Brookhaven travels to West Jones today for a doubleheaderbeginning at 5 p.m. with the JV and 6 with the varsity.
