Services for Wade Lowery McCormick, ofAthens, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, atBrookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial in BeauregardCemetery in Beauregard. The Rev. Mike Carr will officiate.Visitation is Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mr. McCormick, 83, died Sept. 11, 2011, at South Place NursingCenter in Athens, Texas. He was born in Bogue Chitto on Dec. 19,1927, to William McCormick and Flora Kyzar McCormick. He was agraduate of Bogue Chitto High School, Mississippi State Universityand the University of Illinois.

    On June 10, 1951, he married Bernice Stegall, of Beauregard, andwas a devoted husband to her for 56 years. He was also a devotedChristian and a member of Wesson Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister,Aline May; his brothers-in-law, Thomas May and Robbie Lee; hisnephew, Kevin May; and his niece, Melanie May Mahnke.

    Survivors are his children, Bridgett Knotts and husband, Wayne, ofAthens, Joy Jones, of Slidell, La., Alon McCormick, of Minneapolis,Minn.; his sister, Geneva Lee, of Pearl; his grandchildren, Bobby,Tim and Destiny, David and Brittany, and Becki; and hisgreat-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Thomas, Avery, Trinity andChristian.

    He was loved by his extended family.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American HeartAssociation or American Kidney Foundation.
