PERKINSTON – Latoria Holder shot the lights out and scored 23points Monday night, sparking the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to a 75-64South Division victory over the Gulf Coast Community College LadyBulldogs. Holder made 4 of 5 shots from 3-point land.

In the men’s game, Gulf Coast rallied for a 73-68 win over thecold shooting Wolfpack. The Bulldogs placed 3 players in doubledigits, led by Isaiah Jackson’s 18 points.

The Lady Wolves (20-2, 9-1), rebounding from their first SouthDivision loss last Thursday against Jones County Junior College,got 14 points and 13 rebounds from freshman forward Shareka Hunt.Shasta Porter came off the bench to score 10 points.

Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young praised the support provided byhis bench last night. “We got some good play from Shasta Porter,Nadia Collins Rokeiya Adams and Latoria Holder.”

Led by Holder’s sharpshooting, Co-Lin’s bench outscored GulfCoast 45-8.

“Gulf Coast played hard and executed on offense,” said Young.”In the last four minutes we got some good plays. We must shootfree throws better.”

Adams provided her teammates with 4 assists. Vigers made 5steals and TeAirra Wilbert 3.

Gulf Coast got 18 points from Kiara Johnson and 15 from JuliciaTaylor. Savannah Palomarez grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Wolves (12-11, 6-4) were outrebounded 40-26 by Gulf Coast.They only made 3 of 20 attempts from 3-point range.

“We struggled to score in the second half,” said Co-Lin men’scoach Dennis Sims. “Except for Josh Hart with seven rebounds andfive points, we got very little help from our bench.”

Co-Lin was led by Trent Hutchin with 26 points. Rob Wallaceadded 14 points. Torrian Sanders had 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Gulf Coast got 16 points and 7 rebounds from point guard JustinRay who had sparked his team to an overtime win at Co-Lin Jan.16.

Co-Lin resumes play Feb. 16,hosting Hinds-Utica.
