Bread delivery man shot

A bread company employee was shot early Friday morning whilemaking a delivery in Brookhaven, said Lincoln County Sheriff LynnBoyte.

Boyte said his department received a call around 2 a.m. Fridayreporting the shooting at the Colonial Bread Company business onField Lark Lane.

Delivery man James Jones, of Jackson, had been shot once in theleft side, Boyte said. The sheriff said Jones had been shot whilemaking a delivery at the building’s rear entrance.

“Nothing was missing from the location,” Boyte said, adding thatauthorities are still investigating.

The suspect was described as a black male with a slender buildand wearing a dark rain coat with a hood. No age or otherdescription was available.

Jones was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center where heunderwent surgery this morning, Boyte said. He was admitted to theIntensive Care Unit in critical condition following the surgery, ahospital official said.
