Lawrence County shuts out Enterprise

Elizabeth Smith pitched a 2-hit shutout and the Lawrence County Lady Cougars roared to an 11-0 Thursday night win over the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets in fastpitch softball. The unbeaten Lady Cougars (4-0) collected 11 hits in the abbreviated, 5-inning game.
“I am very pleased with the way we are playing right now,” said LCHS coach Meleah Howard. “Our girls are playing with intensity and aggressiveness. I’m proud of them but we still need to improve in several areas.”
Howard’s team plays Saturday in the Franklin County Tournament.
A 4-for-4 performance by Alyssa Pendergrass, including 4 RBI, paced the LCHS 12-hit attack. Kristen Byrd also went 4-for-4.
Collecting singles were Lexie Johnson, Julian Johnson, Sara Lee and Madison Hyde.
Haley Nations (4 K, 2 BB) was the losing pitcher.
The Lady Jackets got singles from Carlee Nations and Skylar Dahlin. Their team made 4 errors.
