Services for Jewell T. Smith of Jackson are 10 a.m. Monday, Jan.6, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Chapel in Jackon and at 2 p.m. Monday,Jan. 6, at Clear Branch Community Baptist Church in Lincoln Countywith burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, Jan. 5, from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 6,from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home and 1-2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, atthe church.
Mrs. Smith, 76, died Jan. 3, 2003, at Central MississippiMedical Center. She was born in Lincoln County.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Daniel Memorial BaptistChurch, where she was a member of the Grace Sunday School class.She lived in Jackson for the past 52 years and was a former longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she was a member ofthe Mary-Martha Sunday School class and the Joy Club. She was amember of the Leavell Woods Chapter of the Eastern Star and hadmany creative hobbies including crocheting, needlework andsewing.
Preceding her in death was her brother, Gary Tarver Sr.
Survivors are her husband, Sam W. Smith of Jackson; son anddaughter-in-law, Wayne and Zelda Smith of Meridian; daughters,Karen Smith of Boise, Idaho, and Marilyn Smith of Jackson; brother,Hugh Traver of Wesson; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews and cousins.
