Lady Panthers ambush Bogue Chitto

The host Brookhaven Lady Panther fastpitch softball team handedthe Bogue Chitto Lady Cats at 5-3 loss Monday night.
Brookhaven visits Loyd Star next Monday for two games, beginningwith the junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at6:30. Bogue Chitto entertains North Pike Thursday at 4 p.m. for theJV and 5 for the varsity.
“We are steadily improving,” said Ole Brook coach Chad Walker. “Weare cutting down on walks and errors we make.”
Brookhaven’s Madeline DeLaughter (2Ks, 2BBs) got the win. StarterRheagan Welch (2Ks, 4BBs) took the loss. Toy Smith (5Ks, 1BB)worked the final 4 innings.
Powering the Panthers (3-7) with 2 singles each were Sarah Ayersand Shelby Peavey. Singling were Erica Bridwell, Stevie Wright,Rashanna Stewart, Shelby Case and Delaughter.
“We did not play well today,” said Bogue Chitto girls coach ScottLeggett. “Brookhaven played a good game. They did what they neededto do to win. We are not executing at crucial moments.”
The Cats rallied for 3 runs their final turn at bat. They got 2singles each from Adrienne Wallace and Darcy Miller. Hitting safelywere Bradi Davis, Josie Porter and Smith.
Junior varsity action
Brookhaven and Bogue Chitto tied 7-7 in the JV game. Singling forOle Brook were Emily Freeman, Stewart, Kourtney Tausan, AaliaghButler, Jessica Lambert and Paige Smith.
Bogue Chitto got a single from Lauren Wallace, MaiShanikiqueBlackwell and Colby Kirkland.
