Services for Carl Edward Allen of Magnolia are 2 p.m., Monday,April 26, at Catchings Funeral Home Chapel in McComb with burial inPike Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is Sunday from 2-6 p.m., and Monday from 12:30-2p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen, 72, died April 24, 2004, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center. He was born in Summit on Feb. 3, 1932, toHorace Gordon Allen and Florena Johnston Allen.

He was a retired surveyor for the Mississippi State HighwayDepartment. He was a member of East McComb Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his sons and daughter-in-law, Bart and SharonAllen of Brookhaven and Edward G. Allen of Magnolia; and threegrandchildren, Hannah Allen, Haley Allen and Noah Allen, all ofBrookhaven.

William Gardner

Services for William Gardner of Jackson, formerly of CopiahCounty, are 10 a.m., Monday, April 26, at Stringer Family FuneralServices Chapel with burial in Gallman Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 3-6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Gardner, 83, died April 24, 2004, at Central MississippiMedical Center in Jackson.

He was a retired superintendent from Bar Con ConstructionCompany. He was a U.S. Army veteran with service in World War II.He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Charlotte; and a son,Robert (Bobby).

Survivors are his wife, Mattie Hart Gardner; hisdaughter-in-law, Pat Gardner of Wesson; his sons anddaughters-in-law, Raymond and Barbara Gardner of New Orleans, La.,and Will Gardner and Teresa of Jackson; his sister, Norma JeanRussell of Flowood; eight grandchildren; and tengreat-grandchildren.

Robert Lee Gibson Sr.

A memorial service for Robert Lee Gibson Sr. of Wesson is 1:30p.m., Tuesday, April 27, at Mt. Wade Missionary Baptist Church.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1-1:30 p.m., at the church.

Mr. Gibson, 57, died April 21, 2004, at his residence in Wesson.He was born in Centerville on Aug. 4, 1946, to Elvada Gibson andConnie Gibson.

He was a former employee of Mississippi Valley Gas Co. andMississippi Road Construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. MarineCorps Special Forces. He was awarded many honors including thePurple Heart. He also served in the Peace Corps for 18 months. Hewas a 1964 graduate of Alexander High School.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Debbie”Debo” Gibson.

Survivors are his wife, Bobbie Corley Gibson of Wesson; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jimmy Wilson of Atlanta,Ga., Jada Corley and Jessica Gibson, both of Wesson, Nichole Grahamof Brookhaven and Laticia and Stacey Floyd of Chicago, Ill.; hissons and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee Gibson Jr. and Cassandra ofBaton Rouge, La., and Javis Gibson of New Orleans, La.; his sistersand brother-in-law, Maggie and Isiah Bracey, and Melvlyn Martinez,all of Chicago, Ill., and Yvonna Bates and Brenda Wilson, both ofBrookhaven; his brothers and sister-in-law, Elvada and Ollie Gibsonof Brookhaven, and Mack Gibson of Brookhaven; and twentygrandchildren.

Avis Ann Temple Smith

Services for Avis Ann Temple Smith of Maurepas, La., were 11a.m., Saturday, April 24, at Catchings Funeral Home Chapel inMcComb with burial in Terry’s Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, 57, died April 21, 2004, at her residence. She wasborn in Magnolia on Oct. 3, 1947, to Hallie M. Temple Sr. andFrances Mae Jewell Carlisle Temple.

She was a teacher at Pine Ridge School for Handicapped inLouisiana. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Carol Watson;and two brothers, Robert Temple and Joe Temple.

Survivors are her husband, Mike G. Smith of Maurepas, La.; herdaughter, Lisa Pearson of Meridian; her son, Sam S. Schifano ofBrookhaven; her step-son, Mike Smith of Brookhaven; a sister, MarySharp of Springfield, La.; two brothers, Hallie M. Temple Jr. ofMcComb and Tony Lee Temple Sr. of Ruth; two grandchildren; andnumerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Mitchell Wroten

Services for Mitchell Wroten of Natchez are 2 p.m., Monday,April 26, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez with burial inDamascus Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Wroten, 51, died April 23, 2004, in Copiah County. He wasborn in Brookhaven on July 27, 1952, to Samuel Elbert and WillenaHuffman Wroten.

He was a crane operator for Edgir Construction Company. He was amember of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his father; his grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. T.E. Wroten, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huffman; and abrother-in-law, Howard Wayne Wallace.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Sybil Wroten of Natchez; hisdaughters, Tabitha Wroten of Natchez and Karla Wroten of McCallCreek; his son, Dusty Wroten of McCall Creek; his sisters, OpalBowlin and Charlotte Griffen, both of McCall Creek; hismother-in-law, Marie Cothren of Brookhaven; his father-in-law,Earnest Hall and his wife Frances of Brookhaven; his grandson,Christian Wroten of Natchez; and a number of nieces andnephews.
