Services for Jessie Mae Kennedy of Brookhaven are 10 a.m.,Friday, May 25, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kennedy, 90, died May 22, 2001, at Silver Cross NursingHome. She was born in Lincoln County on April 20, 1911, to WalterYawn and Fannie Grice Yawn. She was a graduate of Johnston StationHigh School, Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Peabody School forTeachers, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
She was a retired registered nurse. She was the instructor ofpractical nursing at Southwest Junior College in Summit for sevenyears. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Brookhaven Camellia Society, King’sDaughters Willing Hearts Circle, and a volunteer staff member withBrookhaven Outreach Ministry since 1988. She received the GoldenDeeds Award from the Brookhaven Exchange Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband,Charles Wolfe; and her second husband, D. D. Kennedy.
Survivors are her stepson, David Delos Kennedy of Brookhaven;her stepdaughter, Jean Carol Raines; her brother, James Q. Yawn ofAlice, Texas; her sisters, Marie Y. Norrell of Bogue Chitto andMaxine Hillman of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces andnephews.
