Cash taken in armed robbery

Another late-night armed robbery has Brookhaven police askingthe public to come forward with information, police officials saidMonday.

BPD Assistant Chief Nolan Jones said the C-Store conveniencestore and Subway restaurant at 1200 Brookway Boulevard were robbedat gunpoint Sunday night just after midnight.

“We got the call around 12:45 a.m. that a lone black male hadentered the business and displayed a handgun,” Jones said.

The assailant first demanded cash from the C-Store clerk, Jonessaid. He said the man, who was wearing a dark “hoodie” sweatshirtand a red face mask, then walked the convenience store clerk overto the side of the building with Subway restaurant in it anddemanded money from the Subway clerk as well.

Jones said after the assailant took an undetermined amount ofcash from both registers, he fled the area on foot.

Police are still interviewing witnesses and following leads onthe crime. Jones said there is no clear indication yet that thearmed robbery might be connected to others that have occurred inthe area in recent weeks.
