BA girls notch win

The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars capturetheir first win of the season with 11-5 victory over the AmiteSchool Center Lady Rebels Monday night in fastpitch softballaction.

    The Lady Cougars lost their rain-soaked season opener last Fridayto the Central Hinds Lady Cougars 10-7 at the Hansel KingSportsplex.

    BA resumes action today as they travel to battle the CentrevilleLady Tigers. Junior varsity begins at 6 p.m., followed by thevarsity at 7:15 p.m.

BA 11, ASC 5

    Pitcher Meredith Allen helped her Lady Cougars grab the win as shecollected no strikeouts and allowed seven walks. Laura BethWright(1K, 2BB) pitched one inning in relief.

    Destiny Allen led the offensive charge for BA with a home run.Natalie Keene contributed a double and a single. Ali Livingstonbelted two singles. Wright hit a double. Terah Winborne and Allenhit safely.

Central Hinds 10, BA 7

    Olivia Lofton suffered the setback for BA with two strikeouts andfive walks. Meredith Allen (1K, 1BB) pitched two innings inrelief.

    Winborne was the offensive leader for Brookhaven with threesingles. Meredith Allen provided a double and a single. Keeneripped a double. Hitting safely were Destiny Allen and SavannahBrister.
