Ole Brook wins two over St. Helena, La.

McCOMB — Bobo Rancifer scored 14 points in sparking theBrookhaven Panthers to a 47-44 comeback victory Wednesday over St.Helena (La.) Central in the McComb/Coca-Cola Invitational. The OleBrook Panthers (3-14) had trailed 23-15 at halftime but theyoutscored St. Helena 32-21 in the second half.

In the girls game, Ole Brook’s Lady Panthers beat St. Helena57-31, led by sophomore center Nikki Byrd’s 22 points. Sophomorepost Swayze Black chipped in 10 points as they improved to 6-7 onthe season.

St. Helena was led by Sheena Taylor’s 16 points.

In other boys action, McComb beat Hammond 50-47 and Amite Countybeat Ponchatoula 52-49. In girls action, Ponchatoula smashed AmiteCounty 65-31 and Hammond humbled McComb 57-36.

McComb’s boys were led by tournament MVP Roteddrick Cotton with15 points. Chris Anazia added 10 points.

Ole Brook’s boys and girls lost their first and second roundgames to Hammond (La.) and Ponchatoula (La.).

All-Tournament Teams

Ashley Jobert of Hammond was selected the girls all-tournamentMVP. Blanche Wilson of Brookhaven, Sheena Taylor of St. Helena,Taylor Bailey of Hammond, Brittany Patterson and Danielle Vicknairof Ponchatoula and Geisha McCalope of Ponchatoula, and LaAntriaMartin of McComb also were named all-tournament.

Boys all-tournament team members included Rancifer ofBrookhaven, Jarred Joseph of Ponchatoula, Steve Dillon of Hammond,Jeremy Snowden of Amite County, Malcolm White of St. Helena, andDominique Thompson of McComb.
