Horse rider injured in truck mishap

A Monday morning accident resulted in the serious injury of aWest Lincoln teenager and the death of the horse she was riding,family members and authorities said.

Carrie Fauver, 15, was riding horses with friends around 9 a.m.Monday when the horse she was riding was stuck by a truck onWakefield Lane in the West Lincoln community, said Belinda Fauver,the teen’s mother.

Lincoln County Sheriff Wiley Calcote said the accident is stillunder investigation.

“We really don’t know what is going on with it liability wise,”Calcote said.

Calcote indicated the driver of the truck that struck the girland horse was a friend of the Fauver family and a male juvenile.The boy’s name was withheld due to his age and no charges werefiled in the case, he said.

“They are trying to settle it among themselves,” Calcotesaid.

Fauver said this morning her daughter is doing well consideringher leg was broken from her knee to her ankle. Carrier Fauver is apatient at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

“A titanium plate and screws were put in her leg Monday night,”said Belinda Fauver.

In a month to six weeks the teen will have reconstructivesurgery on her knee her mother added.

“It’s going to be a long and drawn out process,” Fauversaid.

All prayers will be appreciated said the girl’s mother and herfather Robbie. Carrier Fauver is a tenth grade student at WestLincoln Attendance Center where she plays fastpitch softball.

A veterinarian was called to accident scene Monday and the horsewas euthanized, Calcote said.
