County man arrested on marijuana charges

BOGUE CHITTO — A Lincoln County man faces multiple drug chargesafter being arrested Monday night following a controlled buy in hisfront yard, according to authorities.

Petrell Arnold, 45, of 1582 Parkhill Lane, was charged withpossession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent tosell and sale of marijuana. He is being held in the Lincoln CountyJail on a $100,000 bond.

“This was an ongoing investigation over the past year. Throughour investigation, a couple of sells had been made, and then thebuy-bust at 9 p.m. Monday,” said Lincoln County Sheriff’sDepartment Narcotics Officer Dustin Bairfield.

During the bust, Bairfield and John Douglas of the SouthwestMississippi Interjurisdictional Narcotics Enforcement Unit workedwith an undercover agent who allegedly bought several “dime” bagsof marijuana, which are small bags costing about $10 each, fromArnold.

Arnold also had 14 more dime bags and $843 in his possession,officials said, and more evidence was found in his home after thearrest.

“He gave us consent to search the house, where we found a halfpound of marijuana, scales to measure it with, 1,300 baggies to putit in and a scanner with police frequencies on it,” Bairfield said,adding that $1,000 was found in close proximity to marijuana in thehome.

Authorities believe Arnold was a major seller in the area,possibly supplying people of different ages and races.

Arnold allegedly sold not only from his home, which has apending forfeiture on it by authorities, but also from his vehicle,1992 Cadillac Deville that was seized after the bust Monday,authorities said.

He had once lived inside the Brookhaven city limits, where theBrookhaven Police Department was also conducting an investigation,Barfield said. The police collaborated information with thesheriff’s department and narcotics enforcement unit, Bairfieldsaid.

Arnold has been charged and found guilty at least three timespreviously on drug charges, with one sending him to the statepenitentiary, according to Sheriff Lynn Boyte.
