Brookhaven has seen some significant revitalization through a recent influx of merchants and investors in the downtown district.
Businesses such as the Pasta Junction, Brookhaven Music and Sound Co. and The Inn on Whitworth have found a welcome home amongst the small boutiques synonymous with the Homeseekers Paradise’s downtown retail center.
And John Lynch’s latest venture at 107 South Railroad Ave. is bringing what he said is a needed venue in the city with the construction of an event and meeting center.
“If you want to do something in Brookhaven for an event, there’s not a lot of places to host it,” he said.
Lynch is renovating the 4,800-square-foot building to include a functional balcony, a brick courtyard for guests to gather and a mezzanine.
“We want to provide different levels of social meeting spaces,” he said.
Top It Off Events, a Jackson-based event coordinating company, will be leasing the building from Lynch, he explained.
“They do wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, business meetings and just about anything you can think of that requires a meeting space,” he said.
Working with Lynch on the renovations is local physician and artist, Kim Sessums.
“He’s working closely on the design elements of the building,” Lynch said.
Construction is intended to be complete by September according to Lynch.
