MHP: Biker killed after fleeing stop

A female passenger injured in a motorcycle accident that killeda man Sunday afternoon was upgraded to fair condition this morningat the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Poccara May, 22, of Lee Drive in Bogue Chitto, was admitted toUMC Sunday in critical condition but had improved to seriouscondition by Monday morning.
May was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by Reginald McGhee,21, of Peoria Road in Liberty, who died in the crash, said StaffSgt. Rod Crawford, public affairs officer for Mississippi HighwayPatrol Troop M.
McGhee was traveling north on Highway 51, south of Bogue Chitto,on a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle when a MHP trooper caught him speedingwith radar, Crawford said.
Crawford could not say what speed McGhee was traveling at butsaid it was a misdemeanor violation. When the trooper attempted topull McGhee over, he tried to flee, Crawford said.
The crash occurred 1.6 miles away in a no-passing zone, Crawfordsaid, when McGhee attempted to pass a 2001 GMC truck pulling aflatbed trailer and hauling a tractor.
The truck was driven by Johnie Robinson, 62, of Bogue Chitto.Robinson was attempting to make a left turn into a private drivewaywhen the motorcycle struck the trailer, Crawford said.
McGhee and May were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.Robinson was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured, Crawfordsaid.
