Hortense W. Herring
Services for Hortense W. Herring of Holcomb are 10 a.m.,Wednesday, July 19, at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of God inGreenwood with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Carroll County.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 18, from 5-8 p.m. at Williams &Lord Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herring, 81, died July 17, 2000, of heart failure atGreenwood/Leflore Hospital. She was born in Grenada County.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Abundant Life Church ofGod, where she had served as church secretary and Sunday schoolteacher.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Thairdy Wiggins andCarl Herring.
Survivors are her sons, Thairdy Wiggins Jr. of Greenwood, DavidWiggins of Tillatoba, Bernard Wiggins of Carrollton and GranvilleWiggins of Columbus; her stepsons, Carl Herring Jr. of Silver Creekand Leon Herring of Batesville; her daughters, Jean Barefoot, PeggyHobson and Betty Singleton, all of Greenwood, and Carolyn McNeer ofHolcomb; her stepdaughters, Margie Clark and Corine Williams, bothof Batesville; her sisters, Lillie McNeer of Greenwood and NellieJackson of Jackson; and 16 grandchildren and 15great-grandchildren.
Syble Reid Robbins
Graveside services for Syble Reid Robbins of McComb are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, July 19, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery inJayess.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 18, from 5-8 p.m. at Wilson FuneralHome.
Mrs. Robbins, 76, died July 17, 2000, of lung cancer at hersister’s residence in McComb. She was born in Jayess on Aug. 23,1923, to Emmit and Tommie Boutwell Reid.
She was retired from Unifirst Bank and had worked as a PBXoperator in Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Houston, Texas. She was amember of North McComb Baptist Church. She was a member of theEastern Star while in Jackson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, GeorgeRobbins; and her brothers, Watson and Joe H. Reid.
Survivors are her brother, Grafton Reid of Mt. Olive; and hersister, Christell Reid Pigott of McComb.

Roger Lee Smith
Services for Roger Lee Smith of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Tuesday,July 18, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in ConcordBaptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, 63, died July 15, 2000, of heart failure atUniversity Medical Center. He was born in Franklin County on Dec.2, 1936, to Leroy Smith and Edith Smith Smith.
He was a retired forester and logger. He was a member of theBaptist faith.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Survivors are his wife, Juanita Smith of Brookhaven; his sons,Roger Dale Smith and Andy Smith, both of Brookhaven; his daughter,Virginia Anne Brown of Brookhaven; his mother, Edith Smith ofBrookhaven; his brother, Bobby Glyn Smith of Brookhaven; hissister, Peggy Foster of Brookhaven; and nine grandchildren.
