Funeral services for Cavie Sumrall, ofMonticello, were 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Bethel BaptistChurch in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. WilsonFuneral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Sumrall, 102, died Jan. 29, 2012, at Lawrence County NursingCenter in Monticello. She was born in Marion County on Nov. 17,1909, to Vanco and Melissa Smith

    Mrs. Cavie is remembered for always trying to help people in need,by cooking them meals, and helping the church she so loved, Bethel,by donating land and other proceeds.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Seth Sumrall;son, Hilton Sumrall; and daughters, Sybil Sumrall Alexander andLinda Sumrall Mahaffey.

    Survivors are her sons, Doyle Sumrall and wife, Rena, of SugarLand, Texas, Donnie Sumrall, of Pascagoula, and Gerald Sumrall andwife, Peggy, of Monticello; 12 grandchildren; 27great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel BaptistChurch.
