Kind trucker goes extra mile to help

Dear Editor,

We were on a trip to Louisiana from Georgia recently. We had anew set of tires put on the car about five days before leaving. Onour return trip, we were just a few miles from the Mississippi linewhen right in the middle of our lane lay a highway sign. My husbanddidn’t see it in time to go to the shoulder, and he ran over it,causing a blowout on the left front tire.

About 100 yards ahead of us was a sleeper trailer being pulledby a truck, also on the shoulder. This guy, whose name is RichardFurr, came back to our car with tools to remove the tire. Hechanged the tire for us, told us where the nearest service stationwas and wanted to reload our truck.

He was truly a blessing to us. We are in our late 70s and neededthe help. He would accept no money. The temperature was in themid-90s, and he did all this with a pleasant attitude.

If you have a column in your paper, please publish this. I’msure everyone who knows Richard knows what a jewel he is, but itisn’t every day that you can receive such kind and willinghelp.
