The unbeaten Brookhaven Academy Cougars face a tough District4-AA opponent Friday night as they welcome the Centreville AcademyTigers to R.M. “Red” Stuard Field for homecoming in MississippiAssociation of Independent Schools football action. The game beginsa 7 p.m.

In other area academy games, Copiah Academy visits PresbyterianChristian School and Oak Forest invades Parklane of McComb in AAAaction.

Brookhaven Academy pushed its unbeaten record to a perfect 6-0 andowns the state’s No. 1 ranking in Class AA, along with the state’slongest win streak at 21 games. The Cougars beat the previouslyunbeaten Simpson County Academy 34-18 last Friday. Simpson fell to5-1 with the loss. Centreville Academy crushed Bowling Green 35-8last Friday.

Brookhaven Academy head coach Herbert Davis watched film onCentreville and had these comments on the Tigers.

“Centreville has a young team, but they are well coached,” saidDavis. “The Tigers are currently riding a three game winning streakand have improved in each game. They will be ready to play us comeFriday. We must prepare ourselves to be physical and mentally readyfor anything this Friday.”

In the win over Simpson, Brookhaven senior quarterback ChandlerRogers powered the air game, completing 9 of his 16 pass attemptsfor 177 yards with one touchdown and he was intercepted once. Onthe ground, he picked up 123 yards on 11 carries for twotouchdowns.

On defense, Bailey Hodge led the Brookhaven defense with 16tackles. C.J. Duckworth and Eli Gatlin followed with 12 stopsapiece. Alan Michael Allred, Jeff Rushing, and Hunter Franklin eachhad 9 tackles. Rushing and Gage Posey each recovered afumble.

Parklane Academy (4-1), coached by Bo Milton, shut out thepreviously unbeaten Adams County Christian School Rebels 35-0 lastweek for the Pioneers’ fourth win in a row. Oak Forest (4-2)whipped the Columbia Academy Cougars 45-6 last Friday.

In the win over ACCS, the Pioneers’ ground attack rolled up 226total yards, with sophomore running back Joseph Clark rushing for117 yards and two touchdowns on just eight touches. Senior runningback Jack Kitaif added 41 yards and a touchdown on four carries,and the Pioneers’ offense ran up 321 total yards against anoutmanned Rebel defense.

On defense, junior linebacker Will Laciura led the Pioneers withseven tackles.

Copiah Academy (1-4) lost to Central Hinds 31-21 last week andtravels to face Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg.

The Gallman-based Colonels, coached by Scotty Cline, are 0-1 indistrict play. Presbyterian Christian (5-1) stomped HeritageAcademy 42-0 last Friday.
