HATTIESBURG — Senior center Nikki Byrd poured in 24 points,leading the Brookhaven Lady Panthers to a 78-30 Wednesday victoryover the Magee Lady Trojans in the Hattiesburg Invitational. SwayzeBlack chipped in 18 points, Ashley Gayten 11 and Whitley Shannon 10as the Lady Panthers hiked their record to 14-1.

The Lady Panthers were led on the backboards byBlack with 9 rebounds. Shannon had 7 boards, Maleysia Burnett 6,and Amber Dickey and Gayten 5 apiece.

Black dished out 6 assists as Coach Freda Craft’s team roared toa 32-15 halftime lead.

The Panthers, coached by Ronald Hines,outscored Magee 22-9 in the fourth quarter and rallied past theTrojans. They made 13 of 21 free throws.

Magee, which carried a 43-32 lead into the final frame, got 19points from Mark Weathersby and 14 from Karlos Warner

Brookhaven plays again Friday, meeting Hattiesburg at 6 p.m. and7:30.
