Driver survives being ejected from vehicle

A Brookhaven woman was listed in stable condition Friday afterbeing ejected from vehicle during a one-vehicle accident Thursdayafternoon.
Annie P. Stewart, 46, of 220 East Minnesota Street, was admittedto the King’s Daughters Medical Center Intensive Care Unit (ICU)Thursday, but hospital officials believe she will be moved to aregular room soon.
“The plans are to move her to the floor today,” said JenniferJackson, hospital spokesperson, this morning.
Stewart suffered lacerations and a possible broken leg after sheapparently went through the front windshield of her 1994 Geo Metrobefore the vehicle flipped several times on Old Highway 51 atapproximately 2 p.m.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department accidentreport, Stewart’s vehicle was traveling north at about 50 miles perhour when it veered right, then began flipping.
Authorities have not been able to determine if there wasanything in the roadway that she tried to dodge.
Even though there was an eyewitness, details surrounding theaccident are still sketchy because Stewart has been sedated anunable to speak, according to the accident report.
