Cast, crew ready for Missoula play

Hey! No monkeyin’ around.

Saturday at the Brookhaven High School auditorium, join yourfavorite bunch of “Jungle Book” characters as they try to catch atiger by the tail when The Missoula Children’s Theater and morethan 50 local students present “The Jungle Book,” an originaladaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic.

The children’s play will be presented at 3 and 7 p.m. at the BHSauditorium. Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $7for reserved seating, $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The local cast includes Kelly Rake as Mowgli (the man-cub), aswell as Claire Reyes as Bagheera (the panther) and DeShauwan Arnoldas Akela (the leader of the pack).

Daniel Davis, Mariah Henderson, Kaitlin Moore, Andrew Barnett,Samantha Junkin, Morgan Walker, Melicia Beasley, Ansley Braden,Brianna Brown, Hunter Brasseal, Steven Godard, Natasha Godbolt,Amanda Moak and Zachary Morace make up the entire wolf family.

More than 150 students from Lincoln and the surrounding countiestried out to be a part of the annual show, said KatherineBumgarner, Brookhaven Arts Council, Missoula Children’s Theatrechairman.

Other cast members include John Calcote as Shere Kahn, whileJake Errington plays his sidekick Tabaqui (the jackal). Nag andHagaina (the cobras) are Stephen Davey and Zacharia Harris. Darzee(the bird) is played by Anna Rachel Breeland. Greg McNulty isfeatured as Hathi (the master elephant) and Rayshelle Gaytenperforms the role of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose).

“Just about all of the schools are represented,” Bumgarnersaid.

Other featured performers include Carly Barker, Madelyn Ezell,Judson Henning, Tyisha Jackson, Shelby Luinstra, Flynn Phillips,Victoria Roberts, Derrick Smith and Ruth Vaughan as Kaa (therock-python) and Justin Blue as Buck (a buck).

Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are completewith costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT actor/directorsheld auditions Monday and rehearsed all week with cast membersgetting ready for the two Saturday performances.

Monkeyin’ around throughout the entire show are themonkey-people portrayed by Holmes Baxter, Miriam Berry, RyanneBritt, Taylor Buitt, Kalli Case, Cristine Craig, Benjamin Doty,Savana Gayten, Tra Henderson, Timmy Junkin, Kelly Luinstra, MarcyLuinstra, Kinley Miller, Rylea Moore, Emma Siler, Cole Smith,Ashton Taylor and Anna Catherine Trantham. Allyson Berry, AlexHamilton, Paige Smith and Hailey Wells have served as assistantdirectors all week.

The Missoula Children’s Theater is brought to Brookhaven eachyear by the Brookhaven Arts Council, which is funded through theBrookhaven Trust. Performances in years past have included “Hanseland Gretel,” “The Whiz of The West,” “Alice In Wonderland,” amongothers.
