An early morning two-vehicle accident has left a 14-year-old boyhospitalized at University Medical Center in Jackson, and possibleinjuries to two other passengers in the vehicles.

Rusty Boyd, Public Relations officer for Troop M of theMississippi Highway Safety Patrol, said two pickup trucks collidedaround 7:20 this morning at the intersection of Highway 84 andFerguson Mill Road.

One vehicle, a red Chevrolet Z-71, was driven by 16-year-oldBrittaney Griffin, of Silver Creek, Boyd said. It was struck by aFord F-150 driven by Brady Wilson, of Natchez, as Griffin attempteda left turn.

Fourteen-year-old Kaleb Fortenberry, also of Silver Creek, was apassenger in the Z-71 and was ejected on impact.

“We don’t have any fatalities at this time,” said Boyd. “At thistime we have no idea of a condition on the boy who was sent toUMC.”

Monticello Assistant Fire Chief Hugh Summers said the firedepartment was called out to remove Wilson from his pickup truckwith the Jaws of Life after he was pinned in during the accident.Wilson had been going east on Highway 84.

Summers said Wilson was calm and alert once he was extractedfrom the vehicle. He appeared to have sustained a broken arm andpossibly a broken ankle, Summers said.

Information on Griffin’s injuries was not available.
