Funeral services for John Bennon Case, 75, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. on Friday, June 25, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven. Dr.Talmadge Smith and Dr. Robert Hanvey will officiate.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

A stranger to no one and a friend to everyone, Mr. Bennon Case losthis battle with cancer on June 22, 2010, at his residence,surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1934, in Lincoln County to Wiley Melvin Caseand Alma Rebecca Anding Case.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clinton,Cleveland, Earl, Robert and J.W. Case; and two sisters, ElsieCovington and Carrie Bell Case.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Mae Williams Case,who was his devoted caretaker; his two daughters, Sheila Massey andhusband Gary, and Sherry Britt and husband Mitchell; his threegrandchildren, Jason Taylor, Matt Britt and Lacey Britt; his ninegreat-grandchildren, Jake, Aaron, Garrett and Haylee Taylor, andDylan, Taylor, Hayden and Jonathan Britt, and Kylee Lopez; onebrother, Alton Case; two sisters, Loise Smith and Mary Lou Smith;two sisters-in-law, Minnie Case and Maggie Case; and twobrothers-in-law, Ervin Smith and Robert Williams; and a host ofother relatives and friends.

He was well known for his great love of country music and was agold member of the Society to Keep Country Music Alive, and upuntil his illness, was co-host, along with his daughter, Sheila, of”Country Classics” on Sunday afternoons on B-92 radio. Also hisgrandson, Jason and his daughter, Sherry, helped out in his absenceoccasionally. He was a member of the Hank Williams InternationalFan Club.

He worked for the Brookhaven Creamery, and also owned and operatedCase’s Record Shop in downtown Brookhaven for many years. He waspresently in his second term of serving as Lincoln County ElectionCommissioner of District 3, and a member of the Brookhaven MasonicLodge No. 241. He was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church and wasa former Lincoln County Hometown Hero.

He enjoyed the many tours that came to visit his Hank Williams Sr.Museum, located in his home and was also featured on Walt Grayson’s”Look Around Mississippi.” He loved to play his guitar and hadrecorded over 30 songs, and both of his grandsons are wellaccomplished musicians due to his influence.

He had a great love for politics and everyone enjoyed seeing hissmiling face on the bench at Wal-Mart. He loved baseball and was agreat supporter of his grandkids’ baseball games.

“We have to say goodbye for now, but you will live forever in ourhearts.”

Pallbearers are Jason Taylor, Matt Britt, Eric Lopez, Jake Taylor,Dylan Britt, Donnie Case, Wayne Dowdy and Judge Jim Kitchens.

Honorary pallbearers are Robert Williams, John Norton, L. RalphSmith, Proby Castilow, Earl Taylor, Benton Burt, Joe Speights,Judge Mike Smith, Ronald Smith and members of the Masonic Lodge No.241.
