Services for Ralph T. Alderman, of Jackson, La., formerly ofBaker, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at Baker Funeral Home Chapelwith burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m.at the funeral home.
Mr. Alderman, 82, died Nov. 16, 2005, at his residence.
He was a native of Brookhaven. He retired from Exxon CompanyUSA, Baton Rouge Refinery. He served in the Army Air Corp. He was anose turret gunner on a B-24 bomber. He was shot down over Hungaryand was held as a prisoner of war at Stalag IV. He participated inthe Long March (European Death March through northern Germany,covering over 600 miles.) He was a member of Baker First BaptistChurch and a lifetime member of the American Ex-Prisoners ofWar.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John W. and MinnieWactor Alderman; his brother, Venton Alderman; and a sister, YubaRedd.
Survivors are his wife, of 61 years, Geraldine Price Alderman,of Jackson, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Alderman andLouis Dunigan, of Zachary, La.; a son, G. Thomas “Tommy” and PattiPersick Alderman, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, Heather DeSheaDunigan, of Denver, Colo., Heidi Dunigan and Casey Parker, ofZachary, Cameron, Chelsea, Carlianne and Cory Alderman, all ofBrookhaven; a sister, Donis Foote, of Brookhaven; and twogreat-grandchildren, Hayden Burton Parker, Kennedy Milyn Parker,both of Zachary.
