Mildred Clara Hutson Dickey, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007,at Clinton. Visitation is Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, from 10 a.m.until 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral servicesare 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Monticello Baptist Church inMonticello, with burial in the Monticello Municipal Cemetery.Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Dickey, of Monticello, died at the home of her daughter,Susan, in Clinton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born inMcComb on May 9, 1919, to Ruth and Luther Hutson.
Mrs. Dickey graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1937. OnApril 20, 1941, she married James Edward Dickey, and they moved toMonticello in 1947. She was an active member of Monticello BaptistChurch, a former church hosted, member of Faithful Workers SundaySchool Class, and a past president of Woman’s Club of Monticello.She lived out her faithfulness and commitment to Christ daily,devoting her life to Him, her family and meeting the needs ofothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Smith (Hardy), of Decatur,Ala., Shelia Taylor (Don), and Susan King, of Clinton; her sevengrandchildren, Susanne Smith Jennings (Chad), of Sugar Land, Texas,Stuart Smith (Nicole), and Emily Smith Corzine (Mark), of Decatur,Ala., Russ Taylor (Sheri), of Brandon, Brooks Taylor (Amy), ofGluckstadt, Holly King Guthrie (Benji), and Andy King (Mandy), ofClinton; her 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephewsand close friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, James Michael; herdevoted husband of 57 years; her parents; and her brothers, EarlHutson, of Inverness, Marvin Hutson, of Memphis, and Oscar Hutson,of Baton Rouge.
Her grandchildren will always cherish the special times withGranny and Pappy in Monticello.
