Services for Charlie Lee Smith, of Wesson, were 2 p.m. Thursday,July 17, at St. Peter Rock M.B. Church with burial in the churchcemetery. The Rev. Arnold Brown officiated. Hazlehurst BurialAssociation and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 78, died July 11, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Wesson on Nov. 24, 1929, to Charlie Smithand Leula Brooks.
He attended Beauregard School. He was a logger until his healthfailed him. He was a member of St. Peter Rock M.B. Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, GeraldineSmith; his daughters, Alma Jean and Charlie Marie Smith; a brother,M.C. Smith; his sisters, Ernestine Glasper, Maxine Adams, AgnesSmith, Alice Dearing, Etherine Dickerson and Mildred Robinson.
Survivors are his sons, James Earl Smith and wife, Darnis, ofBeauregard, William Earl Smith and wife, Synthia, of CrystalSprings, Lee Edward Smith and wife, Romonita, of Jackson; hisdaughters, Brenda Thadison and husband, Anthony, of Brookhaven, andLaura Ann Hall and husband, Billy, of Hazlehurst; his brothers,Lester Lee Smith, Sam Smith and wife, Donis, Walter Earl Smith andwife, Theresa, of Beauregard, and Roy Smith and wife, Bobbie, ofLos Angeles; his sisters, Margree Barefield, of Joliet, Ill.,Dorothy Smith, of Wesson, and Shirley Lentea Smith, of Brookhaven;his 14 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and a host ofaunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
