Passenger killed when car hits tree

A 37-year-old Brookhaven woman was killed Tuesday night in aone-car accident in western Lincoln County, Coroner-MedicalExaminer Clay McMorris said.

Lora McIntyre, a passenger in a 1993 Ford Mustang driven byTommy Boyte, 34, of Brookhaven, died from internal injuries afterBoyte apparently lost control of the car, which struck a tree,McMorris said.

“The wreck happened about a mile south of (Highway) 550 on BouieMill Road” around 10 p.m., McMorris said.

The Brookhaven Fire Department’s Jaws of Life were used to freethe accident victims from the vehicle.

McIntyre and Boyte were taken to King’s Daughters MedicalCenter, where McIntyre was pronounced dead at 10:49 p.m., McMorrissaid. An autopsy is scheduled for tonight at Mississippi MortuaryServices in Pearl.

Boyte was airlifted to the University of Mississippi MedicalCenter in Jackson. His condition was unknown, but McMorris said hewas expected to recover.

Funeral arrangements for McIntyre are incomplete.
