Hospitality hopeful has top-10 finish

Lincoln County Miss Hospitality Amanda Russell finished in thetop 10 and received several other honors during the state MissHospitality pageant that concluded Saturday in Hattiesburg.

In addition to the top-10 finish, Russell, the daughter of JohnPaul and Rachel Russell, received the Spirit of Miss HospitalityAward and won one of three awards for a “commercial” on thestate.

As part of the weeklong event, contestants were asked to prepare20-second commercials on their hometowns and 90-second commercialson the state. Russell’s commercial for the state focused on the itsmusical talent and included a sampling of her singing ability.

“She had a really great time and represented us really well,”said Rita Rich, local Miss Hospitality coordinator. “I was verypleased with how everything turned out.”

Russell was one of 36 women to compete in the state pageant. Shewas out of town on vacation today and unavailable for comment.

Caroline Murphree, of Jackson, was chosen as Miss Hospitality2005. Megan Hoggard, of Oxford, was first runner-up.
