Memorial to honor students

BOGUE CHITTO — Three high school students who died in autoaccidents two months ago will be honored Tuesday night during amemorial service at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center.

The community will come together at Bob C. Calhoun Gym on theschool’s campus at 8 p.m. Tuesday to hold a final tribute to TraciSasser, Zach Dunaway and Chuck Ingles.

The two football players and cheerleader died on Aug. 23 whilereturning home after prayer meeting at Arlington Baptist Church.The entire community has been affected by the tragedy that claimedthe lives of the high school students, said Principal BobbyAllen.

The memorial service will give the community an opportunity toexpress their love for the students, Allen said.

“We want to celebrate their lives and the good things they didin the community and at school,” he said. “We’re not going toforget these kids.”

Allen hopes for a light-hearted time of sharing among students,family and other members of the community.

“Some of the students are going to tell stories about them,”said Allen. “We will also have a slide show presentation withpictures of the kids.”

Paul Ott, nationally-known radio talk show host, will alsoparticipate in the memorial service. He will sing “Hero” in honorof Sasser, Dunaway and Ingles.

School officials hope the service will allow students to havesome closure about the loss of their fellow classmates.

Other memorial efforts during the last two months have been afund set up at the school by friends and family members. The BogueChitto Cheerleaders have also worn ribbons to remember theirfriends.
