Velma Smith

Services for Velma Smith, of Columbia, are 11 a.m. Wednesday,May 23, at North Columbia Church of God in Columbia with burial inFoxworth Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Smith, 78, died May 21, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn on Feb. 4, 1928, to Lewis Stogner and Ivy Peak Stogner.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of North Columbia Churchof God.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, CarleySmith; her sister, Annie May Bryant; and her brother, HollisStogner.

Survivors are her son, Elvis Smith and wife Loretta, ofFoxworth; her daughters, Rita Smith, of Columbia, Anita KayStringer and husband Wayne, of Columbia, Kathy Ratcliff and husbandJoe, of Brookhaven, Vickie Smith, of Columbia; her brothers, ShelbyStogner, Jewel Stogner and Charles Stogner, all of Columbia; andher seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Veda Grace Wallace

Services for Veda Grace Wallace, of Bogue Chitto, will be heldat noon on Tuesday, May 22, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church inBogue Chitto with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. SteveDean and Floyd Higginbotham will officiate. Brookhaven Funeral Homeon Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Tuesday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mrs. Wallace, 75, died May 18, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn in Franklin County on Nov. 7, 1931, to Archie Freeman andJanie Grace (Graves) Freeman.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Hill BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marvin L.Wallace; her brothers, L.A. Freeman, Lee Freeman, Frank Freeman,Mervin Freeman and Roy Freeman; and her sisters, Pernie Arnold andLois Thornton.

Survivors are her sons, Roger L. Wallace, of Laguna Hills,Calif., Don M. Wallace and wife Janet, Alan Wallace and wifeMelissa, and Kenneth B. Wallace and wife Ronda, all of BogueChitto; her daughters, Kay Burns and husband Roe, of Brookhaven,and Norma Reeves and husband Richard, of Bogue Chitto; her sisters,Oma Lee Wallace and Georgia Mae Jordan, both of Bogue Chitto, andBillie Allred, of Smithdale; and her 25 grandchildren and 18great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or HospiceMinistries of Brookhaven.
