2 men, one’s mom charged in burglaries

Two Brookhaven men and one of the suspect’s mothers have beencharged in connection with several burglaries in the fall,authorities said Monday.
Charges range from burglary and grand larceny and attemptedburglary to accessory. The arrests followed weekend surveillance bythe Brookhaven Police Department.
“We received a tip on this Friday,” said BPD Investigator RogerWilson.
Those arrested include John Henry Brock, 29, of Pecan TerraceLot No. 3; John S. Murray, 22, of 742 Union Church Road and hismother Deborah Kay Nichols, 50, of Pecan Terrace Trailer Park.Wilson said a third man, who was not identified, is also beingsought.
On Sept. 20, Wilson said a fax machine was taken from Cindy’sDaycare on West Congress Street. Brock and Murray are charged, andthe third suspect is also wanted in that case.
On Oct. 14, Wilson said there was an attempted burglary atLaRue’s Pharmacy on Highway 51. Murray and his mother arecharged.
“She dropped him off,” Wilson said. “She’s charged as anaccessory.”
On Oct. 15, a safe was taken from the Donut Palace on MonticelloStreet, and a small amount of money was taken from the Sugar Shackon Oak Street. Wilson said Brock and Murray have been charged inboth cases, and the other suspect is wanted in connection with theDonut Palace incident.
An investigation is continuing.
“We have a couple of other burglaries that happened about thattime,” Wilson said, indicating that the men may be suspects inthose cases as well. “They will be questioned about thosealso.”
Wilson said Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department officials maywant to question the men about some county burglaries.
Police Chief Pap Henderson praised Wilson’s work that led to thearrests.
“This is the result of good, hard detective work,” Hendersonsaid. “He did a beautiful job.”
