Officials track leads in Friday shooting death

An investigation into the Friday morning shooting of conveniencestore owner John Deere in continuing, with authorities hopeful thatsome leads will yield additional clues in the case, said LincolnCounty Sheriff Wiley Calcote.
“We’re working every lead we can find,” Calcote saidTuesday.
Deere was shot Friday morning after he arrived at the AirportPik & Pak on Old Highway 51. A cash box that was taken in thearmed robbery was recovered later Friday and has been sent to thestate Crime Lab to check for possible fingerprints.
“We’ve hoping it’s going to lead us in a positive direction,”Calcote said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the incidentto contact Crime Stoppers at 823-0150. A cash award is availablefor information that leads to an arrest.
