Two charged in drug bust

A traffic stop on Interstate 55 Wednesday netted a large amountof marijuana and two arrests, authorities said.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Chris Picou seized 20pounds of marijuana from an out-of-state vehicle he pulled overwith the help of Mississippi Highway Patrol, said Sheriff LynnBoyte.

After the marijuana was discovered in the Honda Acura’s trunk,officers arrested Raemon Duncan, 34, of Corpus Christi, Texas. Hewas charged with possession of marijuana with intent todistribute.

Duncan is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on a $10,000bond, Boyte said. Duncan’s vehicle is expected to be seized.

When authorities attempted to arrest Sam Walker, Jr., 39, ofAlabama, the driver of a second vehicle pulled over at the sametime, they were met with some resistance.

“He had a loaded firearm in his pocket. They (officers) felt asif he were getting it to harm them,” said Boyte.

After officers had to draw their weapons on Walker, he moved hishands away from the pistol and cooperated, according to Boyte.

He was charged with possession of marijuana with intent todistribute and carrying a concealed weapon. Walker is being held inthe Lincoln County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
