Funeral services for Otha M. Cothern, ofJayess, are 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Topeka Baptist Church,with burial in Jayess Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Dale Authement,Bro. Richard Green and Bro. Lonnie Case will be officiating.Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

    Visitation is Wednesday from 5 p.m. until Thursday at 2 p.m. at thechurch.

    Mr. Cothern, 89, died Jan. 8, 2012, at Lawrence County NursingCenter in Monticello. He was born in Lawrence County on Dec. 3,1922, to Lucious Webb and Minnie Mae Magee Cothern.

    He was retired from Croft Metals and served in the U.S. Army inWorld War II. He was a member of Topeka Baptist Church. Mr. Cothernwas a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Hewill be greatly missed by his family and friends.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 59 years, WillieFae Cothern; and son, Robert Webb Cothern.

    Survivors are his sons, Shelton Cothern and wife, Paula, of Jayess,Tommy Cothern and wife, Ann, of Ocean Springs, Zackie Cothern andwife, Adelia Sue, of Vidalia, La., Richard Cothern and wife,Darlene, of Smithdale, Jerry Cothern and wife, Abby, and JoelCothern and wife, Patsy, all of Jayess; daughter, Patricia “Pat”Greenlee and husband, Charlie, of Jayess; seven grandsons, BobbyWebb Cothern, Sam Cothern, Kelly Greenlee and wife, Dawn, KyleGreenlee and wife, Amber, Chris Cothern and wife, Kaci, StevenCothern and Jeremy Cothern and wife, Miranda; six granddaughters,Michelle Cothern, Lisa Cothern, Anna Durr and husband, Joey, KarenSlater and husband, Rusty, Kathy Holmes and husband, Jamie, and KimLangston and husband, Josh; 15 great-grandsons, Logan Greenlee,Blake Greenlee, Kade Greenlee, Tyler Cothern, Landon Alexander,Sean Kerry Cothern, Walker Ellis Cothern, Kasey Durr, HunterCothern, Russ Slater, Connor Holmes, Hayden Holmes, MichaelLangston, Morgan Langston and Colby Pittman; eightgreat-granddaughters, Lauren Cothern, Macey Greenlee, VictoriaCothern, Cadie Durr, Isabella Cothern, Nora Slater, MaKaylaLangston and Lexie Slater; and numerous nieces, nephews and otherfamily members.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to TopekaBaptist Church Building Fund.
