John C. Golmon

John C. Golmon, 81, of Seminole, Texas, passed away Wednesday,Nov. 28, 2007, in a Lubbock, Texas, hospital.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the SeminoleJunior High auditorium with the Rev. Ed Wegele officiating.Services will be conducted by Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mr. Golmon was born May 30, 1926, in Brookhaven, to John C. andLela Golmon. He married Betty Reed, Sept. 15, 1950, in Carlsbad,N.M. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where heserved as an elder for many years and served on most of thecommittees during his years in Seminole. He was a teacher,assistant principal and a principal in the Seminole IndependentSchool District for 38 years, Seminole Credit Union treasurer from1964-1997, was a team member of the most recent school bond issue,served as a member of the Seminole Hospital Board for 17 years, amember of the Seminole Masonic Lodge No. 957, Seminole Rotary Club,he was named Educator of the Year for Seminole Independent SchoolDistrict in 1981-82, and was selected Keenager of the Year just twoweeks ago by the Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce. He served inthe United States Navy during World War II for two and one-halfyears.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Golmon, of Seminole; onebrother, Hollis Golmon, of Monticello; two sisters, Ara Golmon, ofBrookhaven, and Aileen Hoggatt, of Bridge City, Texas; and numerousnieces and nephews.
