Audrey Pauline Thames Cain
Services for Audrey Pauline Thames Cain, of Brookhaven, were 10a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service withburial in Easthaven Cemetery. The Revs. Allen King and Mike Evansofficiated.
Mrs. Cain, 90, died Jan. 16, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born on Aug. 30, 1918, to Walter S. Thames andDottie Ward Thames.
She worked for 23 years as a nurse technician at King’sDaughters Medical Center and volunteered at Brookhaven’s FoodPantry and meals on wheels in her retirement years. She was amember of Jackson Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cain wasalso owner and operator of Cain Trailer Park and Cain Snow ConeStand.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Hiram GordonCain Jr.; her great-grandson, Hunter L. Davis; her sisters, GussieNorton, Jessie Nettles, Ethel Boyd, Nell Case, Helen Eady, EulyceEady and Madge Thames; and her brothers, John Thames, Ray Thames,Ward Thames and Dave Thames.
Survivors are her sons, Walter L. Cain, of Addis, La., and JohnP. Cain and wife, Bonnie, of Brookhaven; her daughters, Patricia A.Fournet, of Addis, La., Alice F. Gill and husband, Robert L., ofBrookhaven, and Jennifer E. Davis and husband, Robert L., ofColumbia, S.C.; her sisters, Dottie R. Hill, of Monticello, andBetty F. Jones, of Nashville, Tenn.; her 15 grandchildren; her 20great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
Hollis Mitchell Franklin
Services for Hollis Mitchell Franklin, of Brookhaven, are 10:30a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on NorthJackson Street with burial in Friendship Baptist ChurchCemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Franklin, 98, died Jan. 18, 2009, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on March 1, 1910, to GeorgeM. Franklin and Jahazie Laird Franklin.
He was a retired farmer and mechanic. He was a 32nd degreeMason, a Shriner, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.Mr. Franklin was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Felicia SueFranklin; his wives, Daisy Smith Franklin, Jewel NetherlandFranklin and Stella Wells Franklin; his sisters, Ann AllredMullins, Velma Watts and Callie Stewart; and his brothers, LanceyFranklin, George Earl Franklin and Norman “Chic” Franklin.
Survivors are his sons, Mitchell Franklin, of Nakhon Phanom,Thailand, and Milton Franklin, of Baton Rouge, La.; a stepson,Floyd Cullins, of Houston, Texas; a stepdaughter, Delois Jones, ofBogue Chitto; and a brother, Rayford Franklin, of Brookhaven; his10 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren.
