Bears feel Prather’s tackles

Outside linebacker Michael Prather made his present felt inEnterprise’s season-opening 39-14 victory against the West LincolnBears. The hard-hitting senior accounted for 13 tackles and 1interception, including 2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
For his performance, Prather has been selected The DAILYLEADER’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Enterprise first-year head coach Wayne Rogers said Prather had alinebacker’s attitude on the gridiron. “Michael is a prettyintense, hard-nosed kid. He likes to hit you. He’s veryphysical.”
Prather (5-9, 170, sr.) wants his team to make the Class 2Astate playoffs. This is the second year for the Fighting YellowJackets to be members of Region 6-2A. They are looking for thefirst region win since graduating to 2A last year.
“Defensively, I thought we were pretty good,” said Prather. “Weneed to get more aggressive.”
Asked about his position on defense, Prather said he enjoysplaying outside linebacker. “I like to watch the ball and stop therun. Coach Rogers knows what he’s doing with our defense. He knowsa lot.”
Joining Prather on defense are ends Travis Leggett and KevinBrizzard. The tackles are Justin Bateman and Jake Walker.Linebackers are Taylor Allen, Josh Nations, Michael Prather andDeon Pendleton. Cornerbacks are Brad Prather and Trent Herrington.Defensive backs are Jarrett Todd (180, jr.) and TaylorHerrington.
“Our offense did real well against West Lincoln,” Pratherpointed out. “West Lincoln looked pretty good. They are better thanthey have been in a while.”
Prather said he enjoys watching the Texas Longhorns on TV. Healso likes the San Diego Chargers in the NFL. His favorite playeris Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher.
The Jackets want to keep their win total growing Saturday whenthey host the Richton Rebels for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Harry L. ColeField. The game was postponed due to the massive rainfall caused byHurricane Gustav.
