Ayleen Smith Higdon, 91, passed away on Jan. 19, 2011, atHospice Ministries.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Stringer FamilyFuneral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday atStringer Family Chapel with burial in Hill Crest Church of ChristCemetery.

Mrs. Higdon was a native of Lincoln County. She attended school atLoyd Star. She lived in Hazlehurst from 1950 up until 2003 when shemoved to Brandon to be near her daughter. Mrs. Higdon was a memberof Hill Crest Church of Christ.

Her husband, Walter D. “Shorty” Higdon, preceded her in death after64 years of marriage.

She was known as Meemaw to all her family, especiallygrandchildren. She was loved by all of her family and was awonderful mother to her two daughters.

She is survived by daughters, Patsy Simonson and husband, Jim, ofBrandon and Janice Cook and husband, Eddie, of Flowood;grandchildren, Christa Ewing and Beau Simonson; and sevengreat-grandchildren.
