SUV crashes into area lake

A vehicle was partially submerged in a local lake after itsdriver allegedly “blacked out” this morning, authorities said.
New Sight Volunteer Fire Department officials said a woman,whose name was unavailable, “blacked out” while traveling onHighway 51 at Williams Lake around 6:30 a.m. Her sport utilityvehicle landed in the lake on the west side of the guard rail.
A passerby, whose name was also unavailable, stopped and wentinto the water and pulled the woman from her vehicle, said NSVFDCapt. David Smith. When the fire department arrived, they found theman holding the woman on top of the woman’s SUV.
Smith said he believed the woman was traveling south in her tanChevrolet Trailblazer on Highway 51 when she blacked out and raninto the water.
Smith said firefighters from his department went out in a boatand rescued the two from atop the vehicle and brought the pair backto land. Paramedics treated the man and woman at the scene beforebeing transported to the King’s Daughters Medical Center emergencyroom.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department deputies were at the scenethis morning directing traffic while a wrecker from Smith Bros.Collision Center stood by to remove the vehicle from the water.
